There is
this saying in Chinese… “Fu Chi Xiang”. Don’t really know how to type it in Chinese.
When I just got into relationship, one of our friends told us that; hey… both
of you got that husband+ wife/ couple face. I thought it is weird. How can 2 people
with different eyes, nose, mouth, face shape can look alike?
Later, I
found out from an article that husband+ wife face simply means that your gestures,
attitude, behaviors slowly takes after one another. You seem to do/ mimic your
partner actions and vice versa. Slowly, both persons blend together becoming one.
From different personality and facial expression ended up becoming similar
within a long time frame. That is why when we see older married couple, they
look harmony being together.
With
this, I relate it to my current favorite song. Mirror by Justin Timberlake. Mei
Kee told me this song is dedicated to his grandparents. “Fu chi xiang” just
like his lyrics, is a reflection of your soul mate. Just like a mirror, your
mirror staring back at you. When you look at your couple, it is like you
yourself looking back to yourself.
Hopefully
wait till I get till old, I can see myself in him; a reflection of myself.
